Driven by a regional language push and live streaming, broadcaster Star India Pvt. Ltd aims to reach over 700 million people in the 2018 season (70CR almost the half of the population of India ) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) across its 10 sports channels and streaming service Hotstar.

With Star India acquiring the Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights with a consolidated bid of Rs 16,347.5 crore for the 2018-2022 five-year cycle, IPL has come at par with the cash-rich leagues of the world like the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the English Premier League (EPL). 
Having pocketed a neat Rs 16K plus crore, the Indian Premier League franchise, according to the BCCI’s annual report, grew at 300% in 2015/16, while Manchester United’s growth rate was 204%. The IPL, in money terms, is now 0.6% of India’s Gross Domestic Product. As a brand it’s now worth $5,500 million.


It has reportedly signed 11 brands in various broadcast sponsorship categories. The list included IPL title sponsor Vivo, Kent RO, Coca-Cola, Polycab, Parle, kitchen appliances brand Elica and fantasy sports digital platform Dream 11. 

Broadcaster:

In India, the tournament will be broadcast on Star Network channels in six languages(English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali).
For the first time, IPL would also be broadcast on public broadcaster Doordarshan.
The TV rights for rest of the world were won by : 
Willow TV for US and Canada, 
Sky Sports for UK
Fox Sports for Australia,
Sky Sport for New Zealand
SuperSport for sub Saharan Africa,
beIN Sports for Middle-East and North America,
Flow TV for Caribbean, 
Geo Super for Pakistan,
Channel 9 for Bangladesh 
Lemar TV for Afghanistan.
The radio rights were won by Cricket Radio globally(except Indian subcontinent), 89.1 Radio 4 FM and Gold 101.3 FM for US and Talksport for UK.
Star's digital platform Hotstar held the digital rights for India, US and Canada. Star India also announced its plan to broadcast IPL in Virtual Reality.

United Breweries Group chief marketing officer Samar Singh Shekhawat believes IPL is the perfect sport for the brand to invest in as the league is all about fun, glamour, colour, youth and energy. Because the brand is not allowed to do television and other traditional advertising for its product due to government regulations that prohibits any alcohol advertising on the platform, IPL works best for the company.

No doubt we are mad for the Cricket than other countries in the world but we need to Understand that Behind The Scene It is Pure Business.

IPL is the India's Biggest Platform for advertisement because this the only place where you will get the highest TRP or Viewership and you can pitch the products directly to the customers.
